1. Parties and purpose
These terms govern the contracting of English courses and classes taught by Centre d'Estudis Avanç SL (Tax ID B66676214, Rambla del Poblenou 125, 08018 Barcelona), at the Avanç Poblenou and Avanç Eixample centres or online.
2. Contracting process
1. Enquiry or level test. The level test is indicative; the final level is always confirmed by a member of the teaching team. 2. Place or class request. Sending a request does not reserve a place, does not create a contract and does not generate any charge. Avanç will manually confirm availability. 3. Enrolment. The interested person (or their legal guardian, if a minor) completes the enrolment form and accepts these terms and the Centre Policy. 4. Administrative confirmation. Enrolment is only confirmed after Avanç's administrative validation, which checks that the information and applicable requirements are complete. Until then, no place is guaranteed.
3. Prices and enrolment fee for new students
- Enrolment fee for new students in group courses: €40.
- Paid when enrolment is formalised.
- Non-refundable, except if Avanç cancels the course, in which case it is refunded in full.
- Not deducted from the course's regular fees.
- In campaigns expressly advertised as free enrolment, the fee may be charged initially and deducted afterwards from the first instalment, under the terms announced in the campaign.
- Not charged again to continuing students, i.e. those who link one academic year to the next and formalise their continuity within the period indicated by Avanç. If the link is interrupted and the student later re-enrols in a group course, this is considered a new enrolment.
- Does not apply to private classes, semi-private classes or hour packs.
- Prices for courses, fees and private or semi-private classes are those published or communicated in writing at the time of enrolment, with applicable taxes.
4. Methods of payment
- Payments are made using the methods enabled by Avanç: bank direct debit, transfer, card or payment at reception, as indicated.
- If bank direct debit is chosen, a SEPA mandate must be signed. At this stage, the mandate is signed and handed in in person at reception; the platform does not collect the IBAN, the account holder, or the signed document.
- Modalities: monthly membership by bank direct debit and quarterly membership by direct debit, cash or card at reception. The quarterly modality entails a commitment covering the three months, without prejudice to the consumer's mandatory legal rights.
- Fees are collected at the agreed frequency.
- In the event of a returned payment, if the cause is not attributable to Avanç and the bank charges a fee, the same receipt will be resubmitted and the person responsible for payment will be charged the actual bank cost incurred, currently €7 (real cost charged by Bankinter, confirmed on 3 September 2026), with no additional margin and with a single charge per returned receipt. This does not apply where the return is due to an error attributable to Avanç.
- Non-payment not regularised within the 15 days following notification may result in permanent withdrawal from the centre, with loss of enrolment, membership seniority and place, subject to prior notice and a 15-day remedy period, without prejudice to settlement of amounts owed.
- Avanç does not consult or report data to credit-reporting files.
5. Cancellation by the student and withdrawals
- Withdrawal or cancellation must be communicated in writing to hello@academia-avanc.com with 15 days' notice before the end of the current month. If not notified with that notice, the following month's receipt is considered accrued.
- Processing the withdrawal is independent of any outstanding debt: amounts owed remain payable, but do not block the withdrawal.
- Before the course starts: amounts paid for fees for classes not yet started are refunded. The €40 enrolment fee is not refunded, except upon cancellation by Avanç or where a campaign states otherwise, and without prejudice to the right of withdrawal in section 7.
- Once the course has started: withdrawal takes effect at the end of the current monthly period, which is paid in full. Fees for periods already used are not refunded.
- No fees are charged for periods after a correctly communicated withdrawal.
- No penalties apply other than those set out in Centre Policy v1.3.
6. Cancellation or modification by Avanç
- Groups have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 students. If a group falls below 4 people, Avanç may cancel the class if no other option is found, offering an alternative or a proportional refund of amounts paid and not used.
- If Avanç cancels a course or group before it starts, it refunds in full all amounts paid, including the enrolment fee.
- If Avanç cancels a course that has already started, it refunds the proportional unused part.
- Avanç may regroup, change the schedule or change the teacher for organisational reasons or force majeure, giving reasonable notice. If the change substantially affects the contracted service and is not acceptable to the student, the student may withdraw with a refund of the proportional unused part.
- Classes that Avanç cannot teach are made up or compensated, as indicated in the Centre Policy.
7. Right of withdrawal (distance contracting)
Where enrolment is formalised at a distance (web form, email, phone or messaging) and the contracting person acts as a consumer, they have 14 calendar days from conclusion of the contract to withdraw without justification, notifying hello@academia-avanc.com or using the legal withdrawal form.
- If they expressly request that the service begin within the withdrawal period and later withdraw, they will pay the proportional part of the service already provided.
- The right of withdrawal does not apply where the service has been fully performed with their prior express consent and acknowledgement of the loss of that right.
- Final scope, period, form and exceptions:.
8. Student obligations
Accepting enrolment implies accepting the Centre Policy 2026–2027, which governs attendance, make-up classes, class cancellations, behaviour, materials and use of facilities. In particular: group classes are not made up; the group price includes public holidays and vacations according to the reference school calendar; the price includes classroom material but not books (one book per year, compulsory purchase, freely available); private classes are paid in advance and may be cancelled without being used if notice is given at least 24 hours in advance; packs are valid for 3 months (6h), 6 months (12h) and 12 months (20h).
9. Minors
Enrolment of minors is carried out by their parent or legal guardian, who assumes the financial obligations and declares the accuracy of the data.
10. Optional consents
Use of image and commercial communications are optional, separate and revocable consents. They are not a condition for enrolment and do not affect the contracted service.
11. Personal data
The processing of data is described in the Privacy Policy. For enrolment, the ID card, NIE or passport number is requested because the administrative and accounting management system requires it for registration; a copy of the document is not requested.
12. Complaints, applicable law and jurisdiction
Official complaint forms are available to students at both centres. These terms are governed by Spanish law. Consumers may send any complaint to hello@academia-avanc.com and, if not satisfied, to the competent consumer-protection authorities. In the event of a dispute, the competent courts under consumer regulations shall have jurisdiction.
13. Term and amendments
These terms apply to the 2026–2027 academic year. Avanç may amend them for subsequent years; each enrolment is subject to the version accepted at the time it is formalised, identified by version and date.
